Our History
Our story truly begins with the planet of Terra, a lush and diverse habitat for human colonists since the early 23rd century. The first colonists were explorers sent from the United Earth Government (UEG) during the pre-covenant war era of colonial expansion. With the immense distance between Earth and Terra proving too cumbersome for resupply and economic support at the time, Terrans soon became determined to scour their new, undiscovered system that immediately surrounded the planet. The discovery of the oil rich planets of Aegis and Armis VII launched the fledgling Terran Republic into a lucrative trading partnership with outer rim colonies in UNSC controlled space. The economy thrived, and as the income and economic output of Terra grew, so did the UEG's demand for taxes on all goods imported and exported. At the time unrest throughout the outer rim colonies erupted into outright insurrection, with UNSC units and military centers being the prime target for terrorist attacks and other attempts at sabotage. Outer rim colonies began urging Terra to assist in the insurrection and the murder of civilians, while UEG officials threatened violence and higher taxes; causing unrest and disputes among Terran officials to peak. The debate culminated in a unanimous decision to secede from UEG control, as well as publicly refute the insurrection in order to remain a neutral economic powerhouse. This decision angered several sects of the insurrectionist colonies, especially those who supported the insurrection on Sergio III. A group of these Sergians then suddenly seized Sergio Station, a Terran mining center on the moon. This action caused uproar again within the Terran Government, which decided quickly that a joint force should be mustered and dispatched to protect the Terran and Sergian miners held hostage there. After a three day stand off with the hijackers, a joint force of Terran mobile militia and Sergian loyalists breached the Station through an access tunnel in the mines below, but due to poor training and equipment the mines collapsed in an explosion during the firefight, resulting in the loss of several lives, valuable resources, and the mining equipment below. Although all of the Sergian hijackers had been killed or captured, The Battle of Sergio Station resulted in dozens of allied casualties, and the loss of the mines; a costly victory. The Terran government agreed that it would be in the best interest of Terra to prevent any future attacks from insurrectionist groups, and improve the military strength of the Terran Republic. It was at this time a well-connected and experienced military veteran by the name of Shadowsniper172 gained popular support, and was urged by close advisors to lead the establishment of a new government that could unite the colonies. Under his leadership the Terran Republic dissolved, and the Colonial Federation was established. The Colonial Federation brought together dozens of resource producing colonies mostly from the outer rim of the galaxy, many of them former insurrectionists. With Shadow now Chancellor, it was decreed that all colonies of the Federation would cease all active war efforts against the UEG and the UNSC, in order to pursue a more politically sound future. The Senate was formed, with each colony sending their governor to serve at the capital. The colonies agreed that in exchange for access to the great Terran trading centers and technology, colonies would be required to maintain a small active military component that when called upon, would fight for the Federation. And so a peaceful period of economic and political expansion began, with new colonies joining and other governments watching in awe as the once small Terran Republic gained control over vast regions of space; "long live the federation" became a common phrase among the colonies. As with all good things, this era came to an abrupt end when a scenario training exercise between CF forces on Armis VII and the National Reikist Imperium dissolved into a dispute over the agreed upon rules. The state of NRI controls the planet known as Helghan, which orbits close to Armis VII; because of the disagreement and the proximity of the planets, tensions between the Federation and the NRI began to rise. Through intelligence leaks it was soon discovered that the NRI had been planning to invade Armis VII and seize its valuable oil resources. Chancellor Shadow urged for war, yet the Senate hesitated and vetoed the call, in the hopes that the NRI would change its course. By the time the Senate decided to take action, the NRI had seized the colony by force, causing the colonists and CF military forces there to evacuate to Terra. With the support of the infuriated governor of Armis, Chancellor Shadow was able to rally the colonies and achieve a unanimous vote from the Senate; war had been declared. With Chancellor Shadow at the helm, a military force was dispatched to Armis VII to liberate the colony from occupying NRI forces. Unfortunately with the Chancellor absent and the battle underway, several infiltrators inside the government who had been sent from economic competitors had waited precisely for this moment to divide the government and cause turmoil, it is worth noting that one of these governors was loyal to the NRI. A heated debate in the Senate over the possible removal of the Chancellor had further split the clan as Shadow’s right hand Johnson would attempt to take power to try and save the clan from an inevitable doom. This senate meeting would soon be interrupted by ShadowSniper himself and a detachment of the Federation Guard, Shadow would decide to spare the lives of the conspirators that day. Rebellion ensued, and promises of military support that had been pledged earlier were revoked by several colonies. The Battle of Armis ended in hundreds of CF and NRI casualties, and due to the political pressure from the Senate, Chancellor Shadow was forced to abandon the effort and return to Terra early to resolve the dispute. No strong resolution was found, and under the political pressure caused by the infiltrator's work, the Senate buckled and colonies began to desert from the Federation. The colonies of Schon, Ravenholdt and Aegis turned on the Federation in support of the NRI, and several skirmishes ensued. With the addition of the naval fleet abandoning their posts and the loss of formidable Erindani colony, the military and economic power of the Federation quickly diminished, leaving the NRI in control of Armis and Terra vulnerable to invasion. Chancellor Shadow officially disbanded the Colonial Federation as a result of the loss of support, and along with the few remaining loyalists an effort to bolster Terra's planetary defenses and conceal military assets was made. As a result of the collapse of the Federation, the only remaining economic resources for Terra included those planets and moons located within the Terran system. The failure of the Colonial Federation government system, and the faltering loyalty of the colonies infuriated Terrans, and in secret it was decided that a more unified state and professional military was needed to secure a future where Terra came first. Chancellor Shadow, advised by his close friend and former Federation Guard commander Spyte, selected a small group of CF loyalists and established the new Terran Federation, and dissolved the Senate as well as any policies that hindered the success of the Federation beforehand. Chancellor Shadow took responsibility for the failure of the Colonial Federation government, and turned over the Chancellery to his brother, General JB. With his brother as Chancellor, Shadow was appointed as the Chief of Military Operations and began the establishment of a standing, professional fighting force in the form of the Terran Navy (TFN) and Terran Marine Corps (TFMC). This new highly advanced and well equipped Terran military force would be raised and held responsible for the defense of the Terran homeworld and all Terran colonial and economic assets within the system. Now united, the rallying call of Terra became "rise above"; the Terran people would never again allow external forces to dictate their future. Within the first month Johnson would learn of the emergence of the Terran Federation and would plead to JB about giving him a second chance, a chance to redeem himself after his rebellious actions in the Colonial Federation. Though it was met with heavy disdain and concern from the Terran Government JB would give Johnson this second chance he asked for, but Johnson would start from the bottom as a Marine Cadet and would have to prove himself in order to gain any relevant position. Within the first month a few starting sergeants in the clan would wash out requiring a pool of new staff to take the reigns. Johnson alongside LankyChalice and Savagebutter would step up to go through the rigorous staff training. Though many guardsman from the CF still distrusted Johnson he would prove to be an effective Sergeant, running many trainings and getting more Marines into the Marine Corps through recruitment. However, conflict would soon again emerge as an old enemy of the Federation would peer its head around a corner. Clan Orta, an old ally of the NRI that assisted in the NRI-CF war would pursue Terra to sign an accord that would relinquish control of the Capitol Building to them. This would be met with distaste by Terran officials and they would soon be prepping for a defensive war. Though this war would never happen tensions were high as Terran Military members such as Z4 and Johnson would challenge Orta publically in their Discord server. However, a meeting between Ortarian leadership and Terran leadership would guarantee control of the Capitol to the Terran Federation and that Orta would be neutral with the Terran Federation. Not long after this the old leader of the Terran Rangers, Z4, would assist in a coup attempt against the Federation Government by the Terran Rangers. Johnson would be infuriated by this act and would curse at the traitors and would fight alongside the Federation Guard to attempt to take back the Capitol, Though this coup would fail the PMC clan known as Sentinel would find themselves in a weary political situation. Spies were sent into Sentinel by the now Sergeant Johnson of the Terran Marine Corps gaining information about the clan and leaking more information to the public. This time would embolden both sides to prepare for an eventual war, though as before the two sides would meet outside the Capitol and talk things out. Z4 agreed to take responsibility for his actions and the Federation agreed to pull out any spies that they had left. The next few months would be an age of peace for the Federation, not worrying about much other than keeping the clan running. Though by June the Federation Guard would leave due to them not being utilized and Shadow alongside the XO of the Marines, LankyChalice, would be leaving. Though Shadow would only leave for one month Lanky was leaving for two years, leaving the spot of Executive Officer open. Johnson would be appointed this spot by JB and Johnson would begin the work of establishing a more active clan and a larger more effective Marine Staff. Through this time Johnson would prove effective in his ideas and overall leadership. In the month of July JB would tell Johnson of his eventual retirement and how he is his heir, the next in line for becoming Chancellor. Johnson would come to terms with the fact that his good friend was going to retire for good and that he would need to step up and carry on not only just JB’s legacy but also Shadow’s as he was retiring as well. On July 30th 2018, JB would hold a retirement ceremony and crown Johnson the rightful Chancellor to the Federation. JB would walk out and turn before exiting the Capitol to say “Long Live The Chancellor”, Johnson would reply with “Long Live The Federation”. That would be the last words those two would exchange before JB left and Johnson would give a speech to those who attended. Johnson would be determined to continue the traditions JB and Shadow had taught him, and he would be determined to carry on the brother’s legacy. This is not the end of the Federation, but maybe a new beginning to an age of triumph.
